前バンドの無期限活動休止後、Ruizaはソロ活動を経て新たに「Ruiza BAND」を結成。この時期を象徴する言葉として、彼は「新」とシンプルに語ります。
インタビューでは音楽への想いに加え、ストレッチやウォーキングによる体調管理、そして「どんなことも楽しむ」という前向きな姿勢についても触れています。
本インタビューを通してRuizaの新たな挑戦と現在の活動に込められた想いを感じてください。

■ 先ずは、自己紹介をお願いします。
Ruiza: 2月18日・A型・162cm・タバコは吸いません・あまり料理はしませんが、自分で作る餃子は割と好きです。
■ ご自身の性格を一文字の漢字で表すとしたら、どの字を選びますか？ その理由も教えてください。
Ruiza:「新」ですかね。新しくRuiza BANDを始めたからです！
■ 憧れのアーティストはいますか？
Ruiza: YOSHIKIさんに憧れてビジュアル系を好きになりました。
■ ヴィジュアル系はRuizaさんにとってどのような意味を持ちますか？
Ruiza: 自分のやりたい事を表現するものなので、ものすごくナチュラルなものですね。
■ 最近ハマっていることや趣味は？
Ruiza: 読書かな。最近というわけではなくずっと趣味なのですが、また最近読書ブームがきています。
■ 普段大事にしている言葉や座右の銘は何ですか？
Ruiza: 継続は力なり。
■ 現在担当しているパートを選んだ理由や、その背景を教えてください。
Ruiza: 最初はYOSHIKIさんの憧れからドラムがやりたかったのですが、親にドラムは家に置けないからダメって言われてギターになりました。
■ 今のRuizaさんにとって、音楽とはどのような存在でしょうか。
Ruiza:人生そのものですね。ライブも楽曲制作もとにかく楽しいし、一生続けていきたいですね。
■ 音楽活動の中で直面する困難や挑戦はどんなことですか？また、それをどのように乗り越えていますか？
Ruiza: 全てがスムーズに行く事のほうが稀で、日々色んな葛藤はあります。ファンの皆、メンバーが喜んでくれる楽曲を作るのはもちろん、自分自身がこれだ！って思える楽曲を作るのは挑戦であり生きがいでもあります。
■ ミュージシャンとして一番楽しんでいることは何ですか？
Ruiza: ライブがしたくてバンドを始めたので、ライブが一番楽しいですね！
■ たくさんのステージをこなす上で、体力面やメンタル面で意識していることはありますか？
Ruiza: 体力面はストレッチをするのと、ウォーキングをしています。メンタル面で気を付けているというか意識していることは、どんな事が起きてもそれを楽しもうって思っています。
■ 日本語以外に自信を持って話せる言語はありますか？
Ruiza:ないです。
■ 現在、特にインスピレーションを受けているテーマや感情はありますか。
Ruiza:生と死、宇宙や人間の起源だったり神話や歴史的なところにインスピレーションは受けていますね。

■ 2006年にソロプロジェクトを始め、サポートミュージシャンとともに作品をリリースしライブを行ってきましたが、ボーカリストは置かずに活動されていました。2006年にソロプロジェクトを始められたきっかけを教えていただけますか？
Ruiza:元々ギターインストやインストが大好きだったのもあり、Dでは使わなかった楽曲をリリースしてみてはどうか？というところから始まりました。
■ そして2025年1月22日、サポートミュージシャンとともに初のミニアルバム『Alive』をリリースすることを発表されました。このBANDプロジェクトを始めるに至ったきっかけやインスピレーションを教えていただけますか？
Ruiza: Dが無期限活動休止になりまして、全く何をするか考えていなかったのですが、ありがたいことにイベント出演に誘われまして。もし自分が動くことで救われる人がいるのならもう一度始めようかなと思い出しました。自分の事を応援してくれていた人の気持ちを考え、不安な想いをしている人もいたと思うので出来ることは限られますが救いたいなっていう思いで動き出しました。
■ このバンドを通して表現したい世界観やビジョンはありますか。
Ruiza:自分がやりたい事を素直にやるという事が当たり前に大前提として存在します。その上で楽曲それぞれの持つテーマや世界観、一言では言えませんがライブを通して体感してもらいたいなと思っています。
■ Ruiza BANDは、ご自身にとってどのような存在でしょうか。
Ruiza:自分自身がシンプルに楽しいという気持ちになれる場所ですね。表現として喜怒哀楽も素直に出せるので、自分自身とも言えるかなと思います。
■ Ruiza BANDのメンバーをご紹介いただけますか。た、彼らと出会ったきっかけやエピソードなどもお聞かせいただけると嬉しいです。
Ruiza: 全員最高のメンバーですね！他人の気持ちがわかるメンバーばかりなので、一緒にいるといつも穏やかな空気で素敵な時間になります。
・Vocal : Seth(Moi dix Mois)について
出会いは僕が20歳になったくらいの頃で、当時やっていたバンドのツアーに一緒に出演してくださり、とても仲良くなり可愛がってもらいました。今も変わらずすごく優しくて大好きな先輩ですね！
・Bass : Tsunehito(D)について
Tsunehito君とは一緒にバンドをやっていたので絶大な信頼と安心感がありますね！出会いはDになる前に遡りますが、Tsunehito君がローディーをしていたバンドのメンバーに紹介してもらいました。当時からかなりテクニカルなプレイをしていたのですごいなーってずっと思っています！
・Drum : 美景について
最初は僕が19歳の頃にやっていたバンドのローディーをしてくれていましたね。それが最初の出会い。その頃からすごく明るくて勢いのある性格だったんじゃないかなーと思いますね！今も昔の面影を感じるところもあるし、信頼感もすごくありますね！
■ Ruiza BANDに参加しているゲスト（レコーディングメンバー）をそれぞれご紹介いただけますでしょうか。また、彼らと出会ったきっかけやエピソードなどもお聞かせいただけると嬉しいです。
・Syn, Violin, Acoustic Guitar : 青木”syun”俊明(Kiss the Quartet)について
青木君との出会いは岡野ハジメさんの機材周りを色々手伝っているというところから知り合いました。新しく活動を始めるタイミングで、協力したいと言ってくれたところから「黎明」の制作のタイミングでお願いすることになりました。
・ 舜(NEiN/覇叉羅)について
舜さんとの出会いは、まず高校生の頃から僕は覇叉羅のファンで音源を聴いていましたね。初めて会ったのは覇叉羅がツアーで大阪に来た時で、すごい熱量のライブで感動しました。覇叉羅を舜さんが抜けた後のバンドで一緒にツアーを回らせてもらったりして色々とお話しするようになり、Sethさんがこれまでのレコーディングを舜さんに頼んでいた事を知ったので、僕の作品もお願いすることになりました。
■ アルバム「A New Dawn」が2月18日にリリースされます。各曲にまつわるエピソードを教えてください。
01.薄明
アルバムの一曲目を飾るので、ものすごく考えました。生と死、そして新しく生まれてくる命、そんなイメージで作曲しました。
02.New World
MVにもなっているアルバムのリードトラックです。新しい世界をここから生きていくぞという気持ちや、誰もが自由に生きていいんだよというメッセージも込めました。
03.Judgement
生と死を描いている楽曲になります。前作「Alive」に収録されている「Swallowed」と同じ世界感で場面が違うシーンですね。世界の崩壊を描いているのですが、その先に希望が持てるような想いを込めました。
04.Brain Deceive
これは仮想空間がこの先どんどん進化していったらどうなるのか？みたいなところをイメージして作りました。世界はもちろん、自分自身の心や身体はどうなるのか。果たして自分自身と言えるのか？そんなストーリーです。
05.追憶
自分が死んだとして、魂の状態とでもいうのか、空の上に登っている状態のイメージしました。バンドの活動休止から現在の活動がスタートまでの期間とリンクしていて、目覚めるまでのストーリーといいますか。そんな想いもありつつ、ストーリーとしては生と死をテーマにしているシリーズのど真ん中に位置しています。
06.夢幻
これは応援してくれている人を想って描きました。音楽を通して皆と出会い、音楽を通して感動を共有し体感しあう。そんな関係性の皆がとても大切であり愛しく思っています。そんな想いを楽曲に込めました。
07.残響
ライブで響き渡る皆の声が大好きで、一緒にライブを作っていると感じられるポイントだったりします。そんな響き渡る声をいつまでも響かせたいというテーマでもありますね。ライブの事を歌っている楽曲ですね。
08.Endless Circle
テーマとしては「ゲブとヌト」です。自分がゲブだとしたら、という想像を描いてみました。「空へ届くように」というのはヌトを想っての気持ちであり、同じ空の下に生きている皆のことを想っての気持ちですね。
9.現の夢
ライブは皆と一緒に作るものであり、そこに集う人たちと作り出すちょっとした儀式的なものだなぁと思ったりするのです。森の奥深くで行われている秘密の儀式としてイメージをして作りました。ダークな世界観ですが、すごく愛に溢れたお話ですね。
10.Impulse
これはもうライブそのものを歌っています。これまでに無いタイプの楽曲で、皆の声と共に完成するライブならではハードな楽曲になりました。音源でもかなりテンション上がりますが、ライブで真価が発揮されますね！
11.黎明
自身の現在のスタイルの始まりを歌った楽曲になります。混沌としたところ、喜怒哀楽があるのは当たり前なので、そんな感情の起伏を一曲に閉じ込めたいという思いで作りました。これまでの活動があったからこそ今があるので、血やDNAを感じられるようなポイントを作ったり、ギターはもちろんそれ以外のところも相当拘りましたね。
12.永遠
アルバムの最後の楽曲は色んなパターンを考えていましたが、最後の最後に生まれた楽曲になります。自分そのものと言えるアルバムが作れたので、素直な想いを届けたいという気持ちで。薄明から始まり、永遠になる。肉体は滅んだとしても愛は記憶に刻まれて、来世も皆と出会い巡り逢うと信じて。
■ 楽曲制作の裏話や、ソングライティングの過程についての詳細や、エピソードを教えていただけますか？
Ruiza:世界観を音に変換していく作業がとても面白かったですね。どの曲も印象的なフレーズやメロディを付けることが出来たので満足していますね。
■ リスナーに特に注目してほしいポイントなどはありますか？
Ruiza:これが今のRuizaだと自信を持って言えるアルバムが作れたので、とにかく聴いてもらいたいですね！自分の理想とするビジュアル系とは、みたいなものが作れました。
■ 「New World」のMV撮影でのエピソードを教えてください。
Ruiza:監督が異常にテンションが高くて楽しくもあり嬉しかったですね！笑い声の絶えない現場で楽しすぎました。レーザーを使ったりギラギラした場所を作ってみたり、初めての事がたくさんあり感動も大きかったですね！

■ 現在のご自身の音楽活動を、一言で表すとしたらどのような言葉になりますか。
Ruiza:自分自身がやりたい事、好きな事をやれているので、「幸せ」ですね。
■ RUIZAさん個人的に海外に行かれたことはありますか。もしあれば、これまでにどの国に行かれたことがありますか? そのときどのような印象を受けましたか。
Ruiza:Dでヨーロッパツアーと南米ツアーをしました。あとはアメリカでフェスにも出させてもらいました。観光はそんなに出来ませんでしたが、どの場所も熱狂的な応援とサポートを受けましたし、離れていても好きでいてくれた気持ちが本当に嬉しかったです。
■ 過去に設定した目標で、まだ実現していないものはありますか？
Ruiza:大きな事から小さな事までたくさんありますね。夢とリンクする事がほとんどなので、少しづつ叶えていけるように頑張りたいですね。
■ 今後、何か挑戦してみたいことはありますか？
Ruiza:これも色々とやってみたいのですが、音楽活動をしながらどれを優先できるかなというところで。でも、運動に繋がる何かを始めたいと思ったりしています。
■ ご自身の今後の目標はどのようなものですか？
Ruiza:まずは2026年を怪我や事故のないようにしっかりとやり切る事ですね。やりたい会場や行きたい場所はたくさんあるので、少しづつ大きくなっていけるようにしっかり地に足つけて、自分に見合った活動を続けていく事です。

After his previous band went on an indefinite hiatus, Ruiza continued as a solo artist before forming the “Ruiza BAND.” He sums up this period with a single word: “New.”
Through this interview, he talks not only about his music, but also about maintaining physical balance like stretching and walking, as well as his positive mindset of enjoying every situation.
This interview offers a glimpse into Ruiza’s new challenges and the thoughts behind his current work.

■ First, please introduce yourself.
Ruiza: February 18th, blood type A, 162cm, I don’t smoke, I’m not someone who cooks a lot myself, but I really like the gyoza I make myself.
■ If you were to represent your personality with a single kanji character, which one would you choose? Please also tell us the reason.
Ruiza: It would be “New (新)”. Because I started the new Ruiza BAND!
■ Do you have any admired artists?
Ruiza: I became fond of visual kei because I admired YOSHIKI.
■ What does visual kei mean to you?
Ruiza: It’s a way to express what I want to do, so it’s something really natural for me.
■ What are you into lately or what are your hobbies?
Ruiza: Reading, I suppose. It’s not just recently; it’s been a hobby for a long, long time, but lately, I’m in a reading boom again.
■ What words or motto do you usually value?
Ruiza: Persistence pays off..
■ Please tell us the reason you chose your current part or the background behind it.
Ruiza: At first, I wanted to play drums because I admired YOSHIKI, but my parents said no because we had no space for a drum set at home, so I switched to guitar.
■ What does music mean to you currently?
Ruiza: It’s life itself. Live performances and songwriting are so much fun, and I want to continue it until I die.
■ What difficulties or challenges do you face in your music activities? And how do you overcome them?
Ruiza: It’s rare for everything to go smoothly; there are various conflicts every day. Of course, creating songs that please the fans and members, but also making songs that I myself think “this is it!” is a challenge and also my raison d’être.
■ What do you enjoy most as a musician?
Ruiza: I started the band because I wanted to do live shows, so live performances are the most fun!
■ When handling many stages, what do you keep in mind for physical and mental aspects?
Ruiza: For physical exercise, I do stretching and walking. For mental, what I pay attention to or am conscious of is trying to enjoy whatever happens.
■ Do you have any languages besides Japanese that you can speak confidently?
Ruiza: I don’t speak any other languages.
■ Are there any themes or emotions that are particularly inspiring you right now?
Ruiza: I’m inspired by life and death, the universe, human origins, myths, and historical places.

■ In 2006, you started a solo project, releasing works and performing live with support musicians, but without a vocalist. Could you tell us the trigger for starting the solo project in 2006?
Ruiza: Originally, I loved guitar instrumentals and instrumentals, so it started from the idea of releasing songs that weren’t used in D.
■ And on January 22, 2025, you announced the release of your first mini-album “Alive” with support musicians. Could you tell us the trigger or inspiration for starting this BAND project?
Ruiza: D went on indefinite hiatus, and I hadn’t thought about what to do at all, but thankfully, I was invited to perform at events. If moving forward could save someone, I thought maybe I should start again. Considering the feelings of those who supported me, and thinking there might be people feeling anxious, I wanted to save them even if my abilities are limited, so I started moving with that desire to help those who need my music.
■ Is there a worldview or vision you want to express through this band?
Ruiza: The base premise is to honestly do what I want to do. On top of that, each song has its own theme and worldview; it’s hard to say in one word, but I want people to experience it through live shows.
■ What kind of existence is Ruiza BAND for you?
Ruiza: It’s a place where I can simply feel happy. As an expression, I can honestly show joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure, so it’s like myself.
■ Could you introduce the members of Ruiza BAND? It would be great if you could also share how you met them or any episodes.
Ruiza: All of them are the best members! They are all members who understand others’ feelings, so being together always creates a calm atmosphere and wonderful time.
・Vocal: Seth (Moi dix Mois)
We met around when I turned 20, and he performed on tour with the band I was in at the time, and we became really close; he took good care of me. Even now, he’s still very kind, and he’s a senior I love a lot!
・Bass: Tsunehito (D)
I have absolute trust and reassurance with Tsunehito since we were in a band together! Our meeting goes back before D; I was introduced by a member of the band where Tsunehito was a roadie. Even back then, he had quite technical playing, so I’ve always thought he’s amazing!
・Drum: Mikage
The first meeting was when I was 19; he was a roadie for the band I was in at the time. That was our first encounter. Even then, he had a very bright and energetic personality! Even now, I feel remnants of the past, and there’s a lot of trust!
■ Could you introduce the guests participating in Ruiza BAND (recording members)? It would be great if you could also share how you met them or any episodes.
・Syn, Violin, Acoustic Guitar: Aoki “syun” Toshiaki (Kiss the Quartet)
I met Aoki through Hajime Okano(岡野ハジメ), who helped me with various equipment-related matters. When I told him I wanted to start new activities, he said he wanted to cooperate, so from there, I asked him to join the recording of “Reimei (黎明)”
・ Shun (NEiN/VASALLA)
I have been a fan of VASALLA since high school and listened to their music. The first time we met was when VASALLA came to Osaka on tour; it was an incredibly intense live show, and I was moved. After Shun left VASALLA, we toured together with his next band, and we started talking more. I learned that Seth had asked Shun for previous recordings, so I asked him for my works too.
■ Your new album “A New Dawn” will be released on February 18th. Please tell us episodes related to each song.
01. Hakumei (薄明)
It’s the first track of the album, so I thought about it a lot. I composed it with the image of life and death, and new life being born.
02. New World
It’s the lead track of the album, which also has an MV. It includes the feeling of living in a new world from here on, and the message that everyone can live freely.
03. Judgement
It’s a song depicting life and death. It’s the same worldview as “Swallowed” from the previous work “Alive,” but a different scene. It depicts the collapse of the world, but with the hope that there’s light ahead.
04. Brain Deceive
I made this imagining what would happen if virtual spaces evolve more and more in the future. How would the world, and one’s own heart and body, change? Can you even call it yourself? That’s the story.
05. Tsuioku (追憶)
Imagining myself dead, like in a soul state, ascending to the sky. It links to the period from the band’s hiatus to the start of current activities, like the story until awakening. With that feeling, the story is right in the middle of the series themed on life and death.
06. Mugen (夢幻)
I wrote this thinking of the people who support me. Meeting everyone through music, sharing and experiencing emotions through music. Such relationships are very important and dear to me. I put those feelings into the song.
07. Zankyo(残響)
I love the voices of everyone echoing in live shows; it’s a point where I feel we’re creating the live together. It’s also themed on wanting those echoing voices to resonate forever. It’s a song about live shows.
08. Endless Circle
The theme is “Geb and Nut.” I imagined myself as Geb. “To reach the sky” is feelings for Nut, and also for everyone living under the same sky.
※Geb = The god of the Earth. Nut = The goddess of the Sky
09. Utsutsu no Yume (現の夢)
Live shows are something we create together with everyone, and I think of them as a bit of a ritual with the people gathered there. I imagined it as a secret ritual deep in the forest. It’s a dark worldview, but full of love.
10. Impulse
This is straight up singing about live shows. It’s a type of song I haven’t done before, a hard one that’s completed with everyone’s voices, unique to live. The recording gets the tension up, but it really shines in live!
11. Reimei (黎明)
It’s a song about the beginning of my current style. Chaos, and ups and downs of emotions are natural, so I wanted to enclose those emotional fluctuations in one song. Because of my past activities, the current me exists, so I created moments where you can feel my blood or DNA, and lots of various obsessions, not only with my own guitar parts but you can feel it through the whole song.
12. Eien (永遠)
I considered many different variations for the final song on the album, but this was the one that I created at the very last moment. Since I was able to create an album that truly feels like myself, I wanted to convey my honest feelings with sincerity. It begins at dawn’s first light and becomes eternal. Even if the physical body perishes, love is engraved into our memories, and I believe that in the next life, we will meet and encounter each other again.”
■ Could you tell us behind-the-scenes stories of song production, details about the songwriting process, or episodes?
Ruiza: The process of converting the worldview into sound was really fascinating. For every song, I was able to add memorable phrases or melodies, so I’m very satisfied.
■ Are there any points you want listeners to pay special attention to?
Ruiza:This is an album I can confidently say represents the current “Ruiza,” so I just want people to listen to it! I’ve managed to create something that truly embodies what I consider my ideal visual kei style.
■ Please tell us episodes from the MV shooting of “New World.”
Ruiza: The director had insanely high energy, which was fun and made me happy! The set was filled with nonstop laughter, we couldn’t stop laughing, it was too enjoyable. We used lasers and created a super flashy location, and there were so many first-time experiences that excitement was huge!

■ If you had to sum up your current music activities in one word, what would it be?
Ruiza: “Happiness.” Because I’m able to do what I want to do and what I love.
■ Have you personally traveled overseas? If so, which countries have you been to? What impressions did you have at the time?
Ruiza: With D, we did European and South American tours. I also performed at a festival in America. I didn’t get much time for sightseeing, but every location gave us incredibly passionate support and cheers. Even though we’re far apart, knowing that people still loved us and supported us from afar made me really happy.
■ Are there any goals you set in the past that haven’t been realized yet?
Ruiza: There are many, from big to small. Most are linked to my dreams, so I want to keep working hard to make them come true little by little.
■ Is there anything you want to challenge in the future?
Ruiza: There are lots of things I’d like to try, but the question is what I can prioritize while continuing my music activities. That said, I’ve been thinking about starting something that involves physical exercise and or movement.
■ What are your future goals?
Ruiza: First and foremost, to get through 2026 without any injuries or accidents and do it thoroughly. There are so many venues I want to play and places I want to go, so I want to keep growing steadily, stay grounded, and continue activities that suit me.
